What Janzu Is
Janzu is a lineage-based aquatic bodywork practice rooted in presence, listening, consent, and relationship with water.
Born in Brazil, carried by practitioners who train slowly and practice deliberately, Janzu is not a brand or a product. It is a discipline — passed from body to body, refined in warm water, held with care.
The receiver floats in warm water while the practitioner moves, stretches, and supports the body through fluid sequences. The water is not a backdrop. It is the primary collaborator.
The invitation is simple: close your eyes, let the water hold you, and allow the body to remember what it already knows.
If This Is New to You
Here is what actually happens.
What happens physically
You float on your back in warm, chest-deep water. The practitioner supports your head and body with their hands. You are moved slowly through stretches, spirals, and moments of complete stillness. Your ears may go below the surface briefly — you breathe normally the entire time.
About going underwater
Some sequences include gentle submersions — always brief, always with warning, always optional. If you prefer to keep your face above water the entire session, say so. The practice adapts to you.
You are held and supported
The practitioner is trained in water safety. You are supported at all times. You can open your eyes, speak, pause, or stop whenever you choose. There is no moment where you are not in control.
Nothing is forced
Nothing is done to you. No pressure to go deeper than feels right. No expectation of a particular response. Some people cry. Some laugh. Most simply go quiet. All of it is welcome.
Limited sessions. By conversation only.
The Water
Environment as collaborator.

Water changes the rules. Gravity loosens. Warm water and buoyancy are relaxing in a way talk rarely is — most people settle within minutes.
In Janzu, the water is not a setting — it is a participant. It holds weight the practitioner doesn't have to. It creates a sensory environment where the body can soften without being told to.
Body-temperature water. Chest-deep. Quiet.
Most people close their eyes within the first minute. Not because they were asked to, but because there was no reason to keep them open.
“The water doesn’t fix anything. It reminds the body that it already knows how to settle.”
The Arc
A session is not a treatment. It has a shape.

Conversation
Before the water, a brief exchange. Not an intake form — a moment of presence. We discuss comfort, boundaries, and anything worth knowing. Your words set the container.
Immersion
You enter warm water. Floats support you. The edges between body and water blur. When you're ready, you close your eyes. The practitioner begins.
Movement
Fluid sequences. Stretches. Stillness. The practitioner reads your body's responses and adjusts. Nothing forced. Nothing rushed. Typically 60–90 minutes.
Return
A slow return to standing. Quiet integration. No rush to talk, process, or perform understanding. What happened in the water speaks for itself.
Who This Is For
And who it may not be.
This may be for you if
- You feel something settle in you near water
- You value felt experience over explanation
- You can be comfortable with eyes closed in warm water
- You are looking for something you can’t quite name yet
- You understand this is a practice, not a quick fix
This may not be right if
- You are seeking a medical intervention or diagnosis
- You need guaranteed outcomes from the experience
- You prefer a spa-style pampering service
- You have severe water anxiety that hasn’t been addressed
- You are looking for a single-session transformation
Not sure? That’s a fine place to start. Write to us and we’ll talk it through.
What This Is Not
Clarity builds trust.
Not a spa treatment
There is no menu. No upsell. No hot towel at the end. This is a practice, not a service package.
Not therapy
We do not diagnose, treat, or provide mental health services. If clinical support is needed, we will say so directly and refer you to someone qualified.
Not performance
There is nothing to achieve in the water. No poses to hold, no breakthroughs to force, no transformation to perform for anyone — including yourself.
Not mass tourism
This is small-scale by design. One practitioner. One receiver. One session at a time. Slow growth is not a limitation — it is the practice itself.
Common Questions
Do I need to know how to swim?
You do not need to be a strong swimmer. The water is chest-deep and you are supported by the practitioner at all times. Floats are used as needed. Basic comfort in water is helpful.
Will my head go underwater?
Some sequences include brief, gentle submersions — always with a cue beforehand. If you prefer to keep your face above water for the entire session, simply say so. The practice adapts entirely to your comfort.
What should I wear?
A swimsuit you are comfortable in. Nothing else is needed. We provide towels and a quiet space for before and after.
How will I feel afterward?
Most people describe deep calm, a sense of lightness, or a feeling of describing an unusually deep rest. Some feel emotional. Some feel nothing in particular. There is no wrong response.
Is this safe for people with injuries or conditions?
Mention any physical conditions in your initial message. We will discuss whether the practice is appropriate. We are not medical providers and will always err on the side of honesty over accommodation.
How do I know if this is right for me?
If something on this page resonated — even if you can’t fully articulate what — that is enough to start a conversation. We will figure it out together.
Lineage
Honoring what came before.
Janzu was developed by Juan Villarino in Brazil — emerging from years of study in aquatic bodywork, Watsu, and somatic movement traditions. It is not ancient. It does not claim to be.
What it is: a carefully developed practice, taught through direct transmission, refined across continents, and carried by practitioners who commit to ongoing study rather than quick certification.
We do not own this practice. We steward it. The lineage is alive — it grows through relationships, not franchises.
“Lineage is not about authority. It is about accountability — to the practice, to the water, and to every person who enters it.”

Begin
A conversation, not a booking.
If something here resonated, the next step is simple. Tell us a little about yourself. We will respond personally.
Limited sessions. By conversation only.
Stay Close
Low frequency. High trust.
